Sanya, called to the Jamaican Bar in 2003, is a seasoned legal expert with an extensive and diverse practice in Corporate, Commercial, Pensions, and Intellectual Property Law. She earned her law degree with honours from the University of the West Indies and trained at the Norman Manley Law School. In 2020, she was appointed as a Notary Public for Jamaica.

Recognized in Chambers Global, Sanya is highly regarded for her expertise in pensions law, offering strategic advice to companies and trustees on everything from pension risk management and plan restructuring to governance and regulatory matters. She is a sought-after speaker at industry conferences both locally and internationally and regularly contributes thought leadership on pension topics.

Her corporate and commercial practice covers a wide range of areas including capital market transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, receiverships, and joint ventures. Sanya is also a trusted advisor on intellectual property matters, managing trademark and patent registrations, clearances, oppositions, and a variety of IP-related agreements.

Sanya is the 2025 IWF Leadership Fellow for Jamaica , and also serves as a director for NCB Financial Group Limited, Jamaica Producers Group Limited and the National Insurance Fund. Sanya is also the President of the Pension Industry Association of Jamaica and a member of the World Pension Summit Advisory Board.

Sanya's deep commitment to the legal profession extends to her active involvement in the Jamaican Bar Association. She has served on various committees, including Commercial Law, Intellectual Property Law, and Publications, and has held leadership roles such as Bar Council Member and Chairperson of the Social Affairs and Publications Committees.

Sanya is also a member of the UK Association of Pension Lawyers and the International Pension and Employee Benefits Lawyers Association. She was the 2017 recipient of the International Pension & Employee Benefits Lawyers Association’s Libby Slater Award, a global honour for excellence in pension law; the 2020 Eisenhower Fellowship; the Gleaner Distinguished Service Award for excellence in the field of law in 2022; and the 2024 Tony Thurman Award for the best published legal article in The International Pensions Lawyer. She also co-founded with her husband the Adult Learning Centres of Jamaica, an active non-profit organisation dedicated to improving adult literacy in Jamaica.
